Neurosurgical Associates Medical Group (NAMG) is seeking to hire a full-time Medical Phone Operator . This position is responsible for operating the clinic switchboard, providing routine information and directing calls to the appropriate area. REQUIREMENTS

High school diploma / GED equivalent required.
Minimum 6 months switchboard experience, preferably in a clinic setting.
Knowledge of medical terminology preferred.
Additional appropriate education may be substituted for minimum experience requirement.
Knowledge of MS Office products preferred.
Bilingual in English / Spanish preferred.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Channels all incoming calls and routes calls to appropriate departments.

Responds to emergency calls according to established procedures.

Communicates general clinic information.

Organizes and efficiently handles switchboard material.

Updates telephone directory and maintains an accurate listing of all listings.

Opens stamps and distributes facility mail.

Greets, registers and direct visitors to the site.

Notes medication refills in patient charts for North and South suites.

Prepares mailing of missed appointment letters for the South Suite and notes in patient charts.

Handles receiving of packages and deliveries to the site. Processes and delivers accordingly.

Maintains appointment book for pharmaceutical representative samplings and luncheons.

Maintains information in a confidential manner according to HIPAA regulations and company policies.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

Knowledge of switchboard and communication procedures.

Skill in operating a communications system.

Ability to read, understand and follow oral and written instruction.

Ability to speak clearly and concisely with a pleasant telephone voice.

Ability to handle stressful situations.

Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with patients, employees and the public.
