Role

Serves as one of the primary lending officers for loan decisions. Receives and evaluates member loan requests. Acts as a resource for information regarding loan decisions, member loan inquiries, and lending products and services. Responsible for granting or denying loans within limits approved by the Board of Directors.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Receives member loan requests in person and online. Processes, evaluates and underwrites loan requests using judgment and discretion in making decisions to satisfy the member needs.
  • Responsible for communicating loan decisions to MSRs and Branch Managers including the ability to discuss loan denials, loan alternatives and rate computation in a clear, concise and courteous manner.
  • Completes post-closing loan follow-up activities, including credit reporting agencies, flood certifications, title reviews, and quality audits.
  • Assist the VP of Lending to obtain and evaluate credit bureau reports, income documentation, collateral valuation reports, flood certifications, title information, and other factors relevant to the underwriting of loans.
  • Aid members with the loan application process to ensure completeness of information. Ensure that all members feel welcomed to the credit union and are supported professionally in the process.
  • Pull credit reports for all accounts and verify debts as well as gather background information on loan applicants, researching any discrepancies. Calculate debt-to-income ratios on loan applicants.
  • Adhere to Credit Union policies and procedures, applicable laws and regulations, including but not limited to, the Bank Secrecy Act, the Patriot Act, and the Office of Foreign Assets Control.
  • Explain the loan process to include loan options, insurance requirements, loan policies, interest rates, payoffs, etc. Answer any questions the members may have.
  • Complete loan documents and input loans in the system.
  • Work with the VP of Lending to complete monthly branch, loan and board reports.
  • Cross-sell credit union products and services including ancillary products and other loan products.
  • Assist with the collection of delinquent accounts.
  • Travel may be required.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education: A high school diploma/GED equivalent and/or additional higher education or related work experience.

Preferred Experience: Previous lending experience and customer service experience.

Interpersonal Skills: Courtesy, tact, and diplomacy are essential elements of the job. Work involves much personal contact with others inside and/or outside (i.e. Chapter Events, Training) the Credit Union for purposes of giving or obtaining information and building relationships. You will have to provide assistance for member and vendor questions that may arise.

Other Skills: Demonstrate strong organizational skills, high level of accuracy, and the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment while giving attention to details. Must be able to operate a 10-key calculator, personal computer, and telephone. Proficient in the use of various internet browsers as well as the use of software such as Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Outlook. If travel is required, must possess a valid driver’s license. Working knowledge of regulations applicable to the job function.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $45,610.00 - $68,416.00 per year
