Position Description
Leads a wastewater treatment facility within a coal-fired power plant during an assigned shift.
Work shift responsibilities include troubleshooting, correcting malfunctions and/or requesting repair work by maintenance groups.
Issues equipment clearances to ensure personnel safety.
Assists with ensuring compliance with all regulatory requirements, safety procedures and corporate policies.
Delegates tasks to junior level waster water operators as-needed during an assigned shift.
Essential Job Tasks:
Leads the physical-chemical and biological treatment processes of a waste water treatment facility within a coal-fired power plant during an assigned shift. Issues equipment clearances to ensure personnel safety. Ensures compliance with all regulatory requirements, safety procedures and corporate policies.
Monitors operating conditions, troubleshoots and corrects equipment malfunctions as-needed within the waste water treatment area. Identifies and prioritizes maintenance needs and enters work orders as-needed. Delegates tasks to junior level waster water operators as-needed during an assigned shift.
Possesses in-depth knowledge of waste water system to ensure ability to operate effectively in emergency situations to ensure safe, reliable and efficient operations. These systems include but are not limited to CPRO, LVW, Pyrites Dewatering, ELG, Sludge Handling and Fines Dewatering.
Performs administrative duties such as performance appraisals, time sheets, leave records, shift schedules and completes various monthly reports such as BMP, etc.
Leads on-the-job training of junior level waste water treatment operators and guides regular safety meetings and training sessions to maintain a high level of operator competence.
Communicates effectively through clear, concise, comprehensive verbal and written instructions.
Position Requirements
Bachelors Degree 3 years experience with 1 year as a Waste Water Operator A preferred, Associates Degree 5 years experience with 3 years as a Waste Water Operator A preferred, or High School Diploma/GED 7 years experience with 5 years experience as a Waste Water Operator A preferred.
