Position Description
To administer all major, long-term distribution vegetation management contracts, including tree trimming, herbicide spraying, brush control, and vegetation work management planning, while maintaining good customer relations and addressing environmental concerns. To administer the transmission encroachment process within the Horry-Georgetown area.
Essential Job Tasks:
Develops specifications for and administers Line Clearance contract.
Insures all work is completed according to applicable codes and laws related to line clearance workers.
Monitors progress of contractor to insure the proper trim cycle is being maintained.
Supervises and directs Engineering Technicians with customer requests for removals or pruning to insure Santee Cooper interest and customer needs are balanced.
Fields customer requests and complaints by providing professional knowledge and education in all aspects of vegetation management.
Supervises and directs Engineering Technicians with inventory, inspection and quality assurance for specified work units.
Insures contractor productivity and compliance with contract specifications.
Monitors budget verses actual expenditures to help Santee Cooper meet its goal as low cost provider.
Keeps Management informed of this progress so that informed decisions can be made regarding budget status.
Administers the transmission encroachment process within the HG area.
Reviews transmission encroachment requests for adherence to guidelines.
Forwards variance requests to transmission operations for review.
Coordinates all correspondence with the requestor.
Develops customer and public awareness programs regarding right-of-way maintenance.
Meets with municipal officials prior to commencing work to discuss work plans and general clearance requirements.
Insures Engineering Technicians complete all required training and are aware of training and development opportunities to enhance their career goals.
Researches line clearance best practices and monitors other utility operations to insure Santee Cooper is employing the best integrated vegetation management procedures available to remain cost effective.
Position Requirements
Bachelor's Degree in Forestry 6 years of utility rights-of-way land management experience or Associate's Degree in related field 8 or High School Diploma/GED 10 years experience.
