Summary:
The Site Ops Manager ensures all company, state, and federal safety and environmental standards for alternate fuels and materials are met. This position drives local Sapphire operations to maximize the use of alternative fuel and alternative raw materials. The position partners with the plant team to optimize the quality and quantity of AF/ARM for stable kiln operation. The Site Manager drives Sapphire's local team and contractors concerning CRH's Purpose, Value, Vision, and Code of Business Conduct.
What you’ll be contributing:
- Promote and follow all plant safety guidelines.
- Ensures all company, state and federal safety and environmental standards are met as they pertain to alternate fuels (AF), alternate raw materials (ARM) and secondary cementitious materials (SCM).
- Drives local Sapphire operations to maximize the use of AF, ARM and SCM.
- Partners with plant team to optimize quality and quantity of AF, ARM and SCM (AF/ARM) for stable kiln operation and quality product
- Manage on-site coprocessing: Receiving, blending, dosing and handling of alternate fuels.
- Manage off-site preprocessing: Shredding & beneficiation of alternate fuel streams & the logistics of maintaining steady flow of high quality fuel to the Leamington plant.
- Drives Sapphire local team and contractors in respect with CRH Purpose, Value, Vision and Code of Business Conduct
- Oversees the relation with AF, ARM and SCM suppliers:
- Plans and manages deliveries to plant.
- Track incoming AF, ARM shipments and prepare weekly / monthly inventory reconciliations.
- Track quality of services provided: to plant: on time, in full deliveries, in quality specifications of the AF, ARM & SCM and invoiced correctly
- suppliers: on time, in full deliveries, invoiced correctly and use of AF, ARM & ScM according to signed contracts
- Manage any out of specs deliveries minimizing impact on suppliers plant operations
- Acts as Point of Contact in communication between supplier and plant teams
- Manages Sapphire operating cost. Coordinates with Plant controller and Sapphire controller to prepare expense budget and monthly reports for Sapphire activity
- Assist Plant controller and Sapphire controller with monthly AF and ARM billing
- Seeks development opportunities to improve local operating conditions: safety, operating cost, logistic, environmental. Locally drives the implementation of the improvement actions for Sapphire
- Play leading role in onsite ARM & AF trials. Engages with internal technical support services (MTS/GTS) and plant people in planning and executing trials for new AF, ARM & SCM. Coordinates supply, processing and blending activity for plant trials.
- Work closely with plant's management team on any Management of Change processes.
- Monitor deliveries of AF, ARM & SCM, prepare weekly / monthly inventory reconciliations.
- Additional duties as assigned by supervisor
To succeed in this position, you will need:
- Preferred minimum 4-Year - Bachelors Degree in Engineering
- Minimum 7 years of experience in working with Resource Recovery or Processing site or in Industrial Manufacturing or Mining environment.
- Demonstrated ability to see initiatives through to completion
- Solid understanding of electrical & mechanical principles of equipment used in mineral processing
- Solid understanding of process engineering principles
- Proficient computer skills, including email and applications such as SAP and Excel

What to expect in a cement environment:
Work to be performed in a shop environment as well as outdoor exposure throughout the plant. Mild exposure to cement dust, heat, cold, and noise requires compliance with specified safety guidelines and procedures. Exposure to high elevations of up to 250 feet in height. Exposure to all weather conditions. Normal operation of mobile equipment may result in jarring and vibratory exposure.
