What are the responsibilities and job description for the Manager / Sr. Manager International Logistics position at Sappi?
Overview :
This position is responsible for the day to day and continuous improvement of the import and export logistics operations which includes leading logistics personnel, budgeting, forecasting, distribution requirements planning, and managing relationships with international logistics service providers and other Sappi functions both domestically and globally. This position is directly accountable for the quality of service provided by logistics for imports while in the US and exports for all business segments and is responsible for being able to clearly communicate performance to designated areas of the organization. The position works across organization and global boundaries, with sales, marketing, operations, and logistics personnel and with the customer to better understand the needs of the business and to establish innovative programs to better serve the interests of the customer and Sappi.
Responsibilities
Ensure all personnel work in a safe environment
Leads and develops personnel in performing day-to-day international logistics operations.
Develops more effective ways to streamline operations and costs while maintaining superior customer performance.
Manages order fulfillment process from export shipment planning through final delivery
Manages the order fulfillment process for imports while in the US.
Builds and cultivates third party relationships with international logistics suppliers.
Oversees teams that analyze strategic and tactical processes and costs, develops action plans to mitigate, executes the plan, and measures performance.
Generates programs that ensure continuous process improvement and high quality services.
Communicates operation performance across organizational boundaries.
Responsible for generating the budget / forecasts and the subsequent operations and financial reporting to understand and communicate variances from plan.
Negotiates contracts with shipping lines, warehouses, and customers for services.
Ensures understanding and organizational compliance with all legal requirements, trade regulations and sanctions, documentation, forestry certification and Sappi's Code of Ethics
Ensure that all freight payment accounts are in compliance with contracted rates and terms and are current in good standing.
Minimum Education :
Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Engineering, Logistics, Business Studies or equivalent job related experience (work experience considered in lieu of)
Master's degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics Business, Engineering preferred
Minimum Years of Experience :
5-10 Years of experience with 3 years of Supervisory experience in a related field
Special Skills including license certification
Industry recognized (APICS) certification in Transportation or Supply Chain desired
Licensure as a Customs Broker preferred
