JOB TITLE : Middle School STEM Teacher
REPORTS TO : Middle School Principal
FLSA : Exempt
Sapulpa Public Schools seeks a passionate, energetic team player to work with our students as the Middle School STEM teacher.
Position Summary : Creating an exciting, and 21st century secondary STEM program and a class environment favorable to learning and personal growth; establishing effective rapport with pupils; motivating pupils to develop skills, attitudes and knowledge needed to provide a good foundation in accordance with each pupil's ability; and establishing good relationships with parents and other staff members.
- Must hold a valid Oklahoma state teaching certificate with endorsments in science, mathematics or elementary certification.
- Strong background and experience in teaching technology, computer applications and project based applications as well as strong math / science content knowledge
- Willing to deliver STEM-oriented instruction based through Project-Based Learning methods
- Willing to work with elementary, junior high, and high school to help build a cohesive STEM program
- Willing to recruit team members and coach FIRST Robotics team (extra duty stipend)
- Experience in safely managing students involved in various projects at the same time
- Employ a variety of instructional techniques, instructional media, and performance assessments which guide the learning process toward academic achievement and curriculum goals
- Establish clear objectives for all lessons, curricular units, and projects and communicate these objectives to students
- Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with administrators, teachers, students, business partners and the general public
- Assess the accomplishments of students in a variety of ways on a regular basis
- The ability to work successfully and productively with colleagues in the development and application of curricula
- Proven ability to coordinate instructional programs to meet individual needs of students
- Knowledge about existing technology and willingness to remain at the forefront of emerging technologies and the latest STEM develops.
- Participate in professional growth and professional organizations for STEM
- Ability to articulate and implement Oklahoma Academic Standards in science and math and grade level expectations
- Demonstrate interest in and ability to work successfully with students, staff and parents
