What are the responsibilities and job description for the Freelance Event Designer position at Sarabeth and Co.?
Freelance Event Designer
Location: Dallas-Fort Worth (Remote Design Onsite Meetings/Installs)
Status: Freelance / Per Project
About Us
We are a well-established, luxury event planning and production company with 16 years of experience designing high-end weddings, nonprofit galas, corporate events, and social parties across Texas and destination markets. We’re known for creating stunning, immersive experiences that blend intentional storytelling with high-end aesthetics. Now, we’re looking to grow our creative team with a freelance event designer who wants to help build beauty from concept to reality.
Role Overview
We are seeking a talented and resourceful freelance Event Designer to work behind the scenes with our internal team. You’ll work closely with our Lead Planners to take client inspiration and turn it into fresh, custom, and logistically executable event design concepts.
This is a freelance, project-based opportunity, ideal for someone who is highly creative but grounded in reality—able to dream big and execute smart.
What You’ll Do:
- Join client meetings to discuss design direction and Pinterest boards
- Develop original mood boards, sketches, and spatial layouts
- Create floorplans and design decks for internal use and client presentations
- Source fabrics, patterns, furniture, rentals, and custom build materials
- Work closely with fabricators and vendors to bring your designs to life
- Familiarize yourself with local DFW rental vendors for quick and efficient sourcing
- Stay on top of event logistics (freight elevator dimensions, space limitations, etc.)
- Be onsite for installations and client walk-throughs, managing final visual details
What We’re Looking For:
- Some experience in interior or event design (not necessarily formal)
- Hands-on event work experience (knows the realities of install days)
- Strong understanding of space planning and design functionality
- Ability to create beautiful, presentation-ready decks with fabric/material samples
- Polished, client-facing demeanor with a collaborative, can-do spirit
- Comfortable receiving direct feedback and adapting accordingly
- A well-traveled creative mind who’s inspired by places, culture, and aesthetics
- No ego—willing to jump in where needed and never above getting hands dirty
- Must be local to or frequently in the Dallas-Fort Worth area
You Might be a Fit if:
- You’ve studied interior design, event design, or visual arts—or just think in layers, color, and space
- You’ve worked a few events already and understand the flow and pressure of real install days
- You love sketching out ideas and translating abstract inspiration into a grounded plan
- You’re creative, well-traveled, and always referencing something “you saw once in Portugal”
- You’re confident presenting ideas, but coachable—able to take feedback without ego
- You’re polished in front of clients but happy to get your hands dirty
- You understand that this work is white-labeled—you’ll be designing as part of our internal team, not under your own brand
