Instagram Design Studio is the heart and hand of how we express Instagram internally and externally. We create and scale brand systems through product experiences, creative tools, environmental, campaign programming and artifact design. We are focused on creative inspiration, relevance and emerging technologies. The Motion Designer/Animator will scale our Product Motion system across user interface and user experience surfaces and create brand in product experiences in close partnership with product designers, brand leadership and engineers. Your work will include a wide span: from iconic creation effects to motion patterns, UI/UX transitions to graphic animations. You'll cover the design spectrum – from quick, rough ideation to final specs and build oversight across multiple projects – we'll look for work that thinks big and gets attention, but also follows a conceptual thread and eye for craft down to the smallest details. You'll be expected to think systematically, strategically defend design decisions and iterate quickly.

- Define and refine how our brand and animation can be used to bring clarity, humanity, and inspiration to key moments in our product experiences.
- Produce conceptual and expressive animations as well as functional animations that are engaging and reflect a cohesive brand aesthetic.
- Create beautiful, high-craft animations from expressive animated illustrations, to subtle moments of delight, to functional UI prototyping.
- Deliver build-ready specs and partner with engineering to ensure high-quality craft and execution.
- Support the roadmap vision for Product Motion opportunities.
- Think systematically about problem-solving in order to scale your efforts.
- Work in close partnership with cross-functional teams, notably Product Designers, Product Creative, Engineering and Brand leadership.
- Confidently communicate your decision-making and the ideas of the team to a broad audience of internal stakeholders, including presenting your creative work to company leadership.
- Manage multiple high-stakes projects and deadlines efficiently and effectively within a productive product environment.
- Generate ideas, inspire your teammates, give and receive feedback, and critique respectfully.
- 5 years of relevant experience working in a digital company, agency, or studio working professionally as a 2D motion designer and animator.
- Demonstrated experience designing and animating complex and expressive sequences that include vector illustrations and icons to prototyping user interface designs with functional motion with subtle delights.
- Demonstrated experience collaborating cross functionally between product design, engineering, and to ensure that brand experiences in product ship efficiently and with a high standard of quality.
- Demonstrate visual design taste and familiarity with both historical and current animation and illustration trends, both in and out of the tech world.
- Demonstrated experience implementing feedback with ease and in a timely manner.
- Experience of consistently working under your own initiative, seeking feedback and input where appropriate

- Experience working with large scale brands, or within large brand systems.
- Experience creating and optimizing animations for digital products
- Demonstrated success in After Effects.
- Experience with Keyframe and Lottie animations.
- Demonstrated knowledge of Cinema 4D or similar 3D animation software, Premiere, Photoshop, Illustrator, Figma.
- Experience with Origami Studio
- Understanding of Artificial Intelligence, UX/UI Design
