Job Description:
Sarah Heinz House is seeking a Summer Camp Gym Instructor to lead engaging and active gym sessions for campers ages 3 years old through 6th grade. This role is responsible for running daily gym classes, facilitating recess and choice activities, and ensuring a safe and structured environment for all campers. The Gym Instructor will follow pre-planned activities or design their own to encourage movement, teamwork, and fun.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead daily gym activities for campers, adjusting for different age groups.
- Ensure classroom management and maintain a positive, structured environment in the gym.
- Prioritize safety at all times during gym sessions and activities.
- Facilitate recess and choice activities, providing engaging options for campers.
- Modify activities as needed to accommodate different skill levels and abilities.
- Maintain and care for gym equipment and activity materials.
- Collaborate with camp staff to ensure smooth daily operations.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent (required).
- Currently enrolled in college, preferably in a field related to education, child development, physical education, or recreation (preferred).
- Experience working with children in structured physical activities, sports, or recreation settings is required.
- Ability to manage large groups and adjust activities for various age levels (3 years - 6th grade).
- Strong knowledge of child safety and injury prevention in a gym setting.
- Energetic, enthusiastic, and able to positively engage campers in movement-based activities.
Job Types: Part-time, Temporary
Pay: $17.00 - $20.00 per hour
Expected hours: 30 – 37.5 per week
