Job Summary
Sarah’s House is a Christ-centered, nonprofit organization that is dedicated to establishing a safe place for women and their children to discover their life’s purpose and the joy of Jesus. In this home, we will provide our residents with biblical teaching, discipleship, and practical resources to help residents in meeting their goals while living in the home. This part-time position is for weekends only. Weekend House Mom will stay on-site from Friday afternoon to Sunday afternoon each weekend.
Duties
- The Weekend House Mom’s main responsibility is to be present for the residents and to ensure Sarah’s House is running smoothly from Friday afternoon through Sunday afternoon when the full-time House Mom is off duty. Coordination and communication between full-time House Mom and Weekend House Mom is essential to this position.
- Weekend House Mom is required to be on the property during her shift and must be present if any residents are in the house. If there is a need to leave the property during the weekend shift, Weekend House Mom must get prior approval from the VP of the Board before leaving the property.
- Meet with full-time House Mom prior to starting shift and at the end of the shift to transition. This transition will include communication about residents’ schedules, behavioral issues, if any, area of concern, and any other information that will be needed for both house moms to effectively fulfill their position.
- Observe each resident daily and report to full-time House Mom at the end of the weekend shift.
- Ensure that residents follow all resident guidelines as outlined in the Policies and Procedures Manual.
- Oversee the calendar for all residents in terms of doctor’s visits, etc. Any time a resident is not in the home, the weekend house mom should be aware of where they are and when they will return.
- Check the residents’ rooms and make sure the children are safe, as needed.
- Will keep all medications under lock and key and provide as needed to the residents. Alternate house mom will update a medication log for each resident and child indicating the name of the medication(s), number of pills prescribed, length of time the medication is prescribed for and the Dr. that prescribed the drugs. This is for prescribed and over-the-counter medications for the residents and children. Medication log will be signed or initialed by each resident when any medication is distributed and will be kept confidential.
- Ensure mail is distributed to each resident.
- Report all disciplinary issues to the full-time House Mom.
- Maintain the safety and security of Sarah’s House residents. Always stay up to date on safety procedures.
- Maintain a strong, personal relationship with Christ.
- Will be required to pass a drug test prior to beginning employment. A drug test will be required no less than once every two years.
Experience
- Must be a believer of Jesus Christ and live according to the standards of God’s Word
- Minimum level of high school diploma or GED.
- Capable of providing leadership and spiritual guidance to each of the residents according to her specific needs.
- Effective Communicator.
- Ability to take instruction and correction.
- Ability to work as a team player.
- Ability to adhere to confidentiality policies.
- Ability to recognize natural teaching opportunities and act upon them.
- Physically able to fulfill the responsibilities of the position.
- Possess a valid driver’s license with a good driving record.
- Provide their own transportation.
- Ability to successfully complete mandatory training and implement training topics.
- Must agree to a background check due to the nature of the job and the safety of our residents. A background check will be required to be run annually.
Compensation/Salary: The Alternate House Mom will be provided housing while on duty. During her weekend shift, she will be provided a private space in Sarah’s House or in a trailer on the property of Sarah’s House. This space can only be occupied by the weekend House Mom. No other individuals, including family members, will be allowed to stay in the home/trailer. Additionally, no pets will be allowed in the home/trailer. The Weekend House Mom will be required to have her own transportation available.
Salary: $12,500 per year and non-exempt; Reimbursement of $150 monthly for food and supplies
