Title: Elementary, middle, and high school Art teacher
Reports To: Principal, Fine Arts Director
SUMMARY OF POSITION, FUNCTION, AND DUTIES
Under the fine arts director, the teacher is assigned to fulfill the mission of honoring the Lord Jesus Christ which is to equip students with a love for Christ, a passion to learn, the courage to lead, and a commitment to serve. The school administration may assign additional duties or specify other functions needed as may be appropriate for specific faculty posts.
ESSENTIAL JOB QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS

- Must be a born-again Christian whose lifestyle and character demonstrate obedience to God and the Bible and express agreement with the school's doctrinal viewpoints, statement of faith, and Christian lifestyle requirements.
- Must be able to serve as a positive Christian role model to others in the school context.
- Must be able to accept and support the school's core beliefs, statement of faith, and doctrine.
- Must have an understanding of and commitment to SCS's educational objectives and philosophy of education.
- Must possess sufficient biblical knowledge that enables the individual to integrate Scripture into subjects taught, sports coached, or other job duties assigned, thus imparting to students a biblical worldview position.
- Must faithfully attend a local church whose fundamental beliefs are in agreement with the statement of faith and doctrine of this school.
- Must affirm that he/she believes that working and ministering in this Christian school would be pleasing to God, would be consistent with his/her purpose in life, and would be good stewardship of his/her time, talent, and professional abilities.
- Must enjoy working with young people.
Sarasota Christian School is dedicated to academic excellence and spiritual growth and is seeking a passionate and skilled Art Teacher to join our faculty. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in teaching art at both the elementary and secondary levels. Experience in teaching graphic design and marketing is a plus. This role offers the opportunity to inspire creativity in students while integrating biblical values into the art curriculum.
Key Responsibilities:
- Elementary Art Instruction: Teach foundational art concepts to elementary students, including drawing, painting, sculpture, and other mediums, while fostering creativity and developing artistic skills.
- Secondary Art Instruction: Offer art classes to middle and high school students, focusing on both traditional and contemporary art techniques and styles.
- Graphic Design and Marketing: Teach graphic design principles and software (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite) to older students. Guide students in creating digital art, branding, and marketing projects that align with real-world applications.
- Curriculum Development: Develop and implement engaging and age-appropriate lesson plans that reflect a Christian worldview and encourage students to explore their artistic talents.
- Classroom Management: Create a positive, respectful, and encouraging classroom environment where students feel supported in their creative expression.
- Student Growth and Assessment: Track student progress and provide feedback to ensure continuous improvement in their artistic skills. Encourage students to develop their unique style and voice.
- Collaborative Effort: Work closely with other faculty members to integrate art projects and teachings into other subject areas and school-wide events. Support school marketing efforts through student-designed materials as needed.
Qualifications:
- A Bachelor's degree in Art Education, Fine Arts, Graphic Design, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
- Experience teaching art at both the elementary and secondary levels.
- Strong proficiency in graphic design, including knowledge of relevant software (e.g., Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign).
- Previous experience in marketing or branding is a plus.
- A passion for integrating Christian principles into teaching and encouraging students to see their art as a reflection of their faith.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to foster a creative and supportive classroom environment.
- Strong desire to mentor students and guide their artistic development in both traditional and digital mediums.
