Title: Maintenance Assistant
Reports To: Facilities Manager
SUMMARY OF POSITION, FUNCTION, AND DUTIES
Under the direction of the Facilities Manager, the Maintenance Assistant is assigned to fulfill the mission of honoring the Lord Jesus Christ which is to equip students with a love for Christ, a passion to learn, the courage to lead, and a commitment to serve. The school administration may assign additional duties or specify other functions needed as may be appropriate for specific faculty posts. The Maintenance Assistant is responsible for completing various facility maintenance tasks as assigned by the Facilities Manager in coordination with the Director of Finance & Campus
Resources and assisting with certain custodial / housekeeping duties. This position will be 30 hours a week; though flexibility in schedule & workflow are crucial to respond to unforeseen & after-school needs that arise.
ESSENTIAL JOB QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS
PERSONAL BELIEF & BEHAVIOR
- Must be a born-again Christian whose lifestyle and character demonstrate obedience to God and the Bible and express agreement with the school's doctrinal viewpoints, statement of faith, and Christian lifestyle requirements.
- Must be able to serve as a positive Christian role model to others in the school context.
- Must be able to accept and support the school's core beliefs, statement of faith, and doctrine.
- Must have an understanding of and commitment to SCS's educational objectives and philosophy of education.
- Must possess sufficient biblical knowledge that enables the individual to integrate Scripture into subjects taught, sports coached, or other job duties assigned, thus imparting to students a biblical worldview position.
- Must faithfully attend a local church whose fundamental beliefs are in agreement with the statement of faith and doctrine of this school.
- Must affirm that he/she believes that working and ministering in this Christian school would be pleasing to God, would be consistent with his/her purpose in life, and would be good stewardship of his/her time, talent, and professional abilities.
- Must enjoy working with young people and be an enthusiastic follower of Jesus Christ.
PROFESSIONAL
Safety / Security a. Coordinate campus locking and unlocking schedule with Facilities Manager and Housekeeping Manager. b. Observe and address any daily unattended safety hazards on campus.
Repairs and Maintenance a. Manage all daily aspects of Spiceworks maintenance software for faculty/staff classroom/building requests b. Routine carpentry, electrical, plumbing, sprinkler repairs b. Painting projects as needed c. Landscaping projects as needed d. Perform preventive maintenance on equipment as needed e. HVAC systems, gutters, and golf carts repair as needed. f. Transportation fueling/bus maintenance coordination with Athletics/Principals g. Coordinate with Facilities Manager regarding 3rd party vendor work needs
Custodial / Housekeeping a. Prepare sidewalks before the school day starts b. Empty trash bins around campus as needed c. General daily campus cleaning assignments
Support Services a. Assist Housekeeping Manager with duties requiring two people or heavier tasks such as emptying large trash bins b. Assist Housekeeping with setup and tear down for events on campus c. Update campus signs as requested by Admissions or Communications departments
INDIVIDUAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
Knowledge of carpentry, plumbing and electrical. Good communication skills and responsiveness to all stakeholders including fellowship w employees, students, and parents. Consistently high standards of workmanship should be evident in all repair work, along with attentiveness to cost-effective solutions. Able to work as part of a team.
Dress Code: A professional appearance is expected. Hair /facial hair should be neat and trimmed. A polo shirt and shorts/pants that are clean and rip free is required. An SCS school spirit shirt may be worn on Fridays.
Physical Requirements: Working conditions and physical requirements are normal for a general school environment; in addition, the physical ability to lift and move items of up to 40 pounds is required.
