Do you have experience in billing and customer service? In this role, you will perform complex financial, clerical, and technical customer service tasks that require knowledge of billing procedures and varied rate structures for water/sewer customers and county residents. You'll collaborate with internal staff to ensure accurate communication with billing, meter, permitting, and loan departments. Apply today to make a difference in the Sarasota County community!- Assure the accurate billing for Residential, Commercial, Fire Hydrant Rental, Septage Hauler, and other customers.
- Audit accounts for rate billing accuracy, assure on-time billing and maintain the data, classification, coding, routing, and rates within the CIS. Report findings to Supervisor.
- Issue and complete work orders based on customer or staff requests, including adding applicable fees.
- Review, investigate, and respond to complex customer/Vendor inquiries, issues, and concerns by phone, in person, and written response (email/letter). These may arrive directly from a customer, public records requests, Administration, or the County Commissioners’ Office.
- Process Cycle Routes, Off Cycle, Back Billing, Final Billing, Adjustments, List & Post; Generate Reports on revenue, consumption, and reconciliation, Stuck Meters, Inter-Change Meters, Inactive with Consumption, Zero Consumption, Cancel Rebills; Account Corrections; monitor Sewer Only Billing/Delinquency, Loan Maintenance, and others.
- Work with leadership to establish performance measures and assist with the development of preventative maintenance plans and schedules. Set goals and manage timelines while prioritizing work effectively.
- Monitor outcomes while developing/implementing policies, procedures, and/or job requirements.
- Ensures compliance with regulatory/county principles, policies, resolutions/ordinances, and practices. Builds strong inter/intra-departmental relationships.
- Identify trends and/or problems through statistical analysis and assure continuous improvement of systems and processes. Prepare complex/statistical reports and presentations. Develop and ensure compliance with principles, policies, and practices.
- Facilitate internal/external training for existing and new hire onboarding; coach, counsel, and develop financial specialists.
- Possess the ability to coach, mentor, and develop support staff and demonstrate excellent time management skills. Exercise independent judgment and discretion for decision-making.
Work Hours: Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
About You
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college in Public Administration, Business, Finance, Planning, Industrial/Engineering Technology, or related fields AND two (2) years of job-related experience.
- OR- Six (6) years of professional job-related experience can be substituted at management discretion for the required education.
- OR- Related professional program/ project management may substitute for the required education at management discretion.
- Intermediate to advanced skill in computer programs such as Microsoft Outlook (email, chat, scheduler), Word, Excel, Visio, Powerpoint, Sharepoint, E-Net, Itineris, Acella, On Base, Amanda, Maximo, Electronic Filing Systems (EFS), Teams, Smarksheet, Workday.
- Two (2) years of government experience.
