Our Office of Financial Management has an opening for a Fiscal Consultant III, responsible for the development, adoption, and implementation of the budget for assigned areas. This opportunity involves advanced work in the analysis and maintenance of a multi-year fiscal plan and the ideal candidate exercises independent judgment and discretion for decision-making.

About the Position
As a Fiscal Consultant III, you will monitor programs and fiscal operations, develop, analyze and evaluate data, and prepare reports and documentation for fiscal/financial transactions to ensure that budgets are executed in accordance with approved plan, statues and guidelines. In addition, you will serve as the Subject Matter Expert “SME” for the area(s) assigned, conducting complex financial and budgetary analyses that facilitate decision-making. Lastly, provide fiscal guidance and oversight prior to the transfer, interchange, and expenditure of funds.
Responsibilities and activities for the assigned area(s) include:
- Coordinate with department staff, outside agencies, and/or municipalities to prepare budgets and develop innovative approaches for meeting fiscal challenges.
- Develop strong, facilitative relationships; providing training and guidance on financial matters and acting as a mentor/coach to others.
- Develop processes and spreadsheets to assist with forecasting needs and monitoring budgets; compiling and coordinating periodic reports to management on status of expenditures, revenues, and other financial issues.
- Forecast/manage/maintain complex funds; assisting with the review and/or updating of various fee and rate studies and models used by assigned departments.
- Create/process Budget Resolutions, Administrative Appropriation Transfers, Journal Entries, Payment Requests.
- Provide funding information/review eGenda items for accuracy and completeness.
- Perform a variety of complex analysis of financial issues, often times those which are controversial, unprecedented, or sensitive.
- Frequently presents/develops information for the BCC, administration, directors and public boards.
- Collaborate with the Office of the County Attorney to develop or revise ordinances, inter-local agreements, and other legal documents as well as in determining the legal use of funding.
About the Schedule
Work Hours:
- Full-Time, 40 hour per week.
- Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
- After meeting the 6-month probationary period this position allows employees to work remotely 1-2 days per week.
About You
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Public Administration, or a related field -AND- Six (6) years, or more, of progressively responsible professional work experience.
- OR- Related professional experience or certifications may substitute for the required education.
- -OR- Master’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Public Administration or related field may substitute for one year of the required work experience.
- -OR- CPA license may substitute for one year of the required work experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Public Administration or a related field.
- Prior government experience.
- Florida CPA license.
About Everything Else
Starting Pay Range: $61,734.40 - $70,012.80, based on experience.
