Job Description
The administrative assistant will perform various administrative, office and secretarial functions including, but not limited to verifying personnel time sheets, receiving and routing telephone calls, composing correspondence and reports, scheduling appointments and meetings, sorting/distributing mail, maintaining files, processing travel reimbursements, reviewing budget requests, and all other job duties specific to the assigned bureau. The administrative assistant will work within both the Corrections Operations and Corrections Services Bureaus..
General Description of Duties
Tasks: Complete assignment as directed; maintain work areas; knowledge of general orders; generate reports; receive, route. and disperse telephone calls/messages; compose and type correspondence, reports, and other materials; sort and distribute mail; greet and assist visitors to the agency; process travel reimbursement; verify and authorize payables; review budget requests; participate in budgetary review process; provide back-up within the bureau; verify personnel/payroll time sheets; receive, route, and disperse telephone calls/messages; compose and type correspondence reports and other materials; schedule appointments/meetings prepare special events security detail schedule and calculate manpower hours; maintain and update files/reports/documentation; prepare and submit purchase/supply requisitions; assist in budgetary; and maintain and update files/reports/documentation.
Work hours are 8-4 Monday through Friday.

The Sarasota County Sheriff's Office requires all employees to have either an associates degree, 60 equivalent hours from an accredited college or university or the Wonderlic Basic Skills Test. The Wonderlic Basic Skills Test measures verbal and quantitative skills. Sworn *Law Enforcement and Corrections Deputies must achieve a minimum passing score of Verbal - 267 and Quantitative - 241. Civilians must achieve a minimum passing score of Verbal - 248 and Quantitative - 241.
If you are out of town, please contact your local technical institute. A complete report of passing scores must be submitted directly to the SCSO.
