Job Summary

This leader has operational accountability, oversight, and manages the daily activities of the department or area. In this role, the leader sets the tone and models positive leadership behavior, while ensuring successful completion of teamwork tasks, projects, and responsibilities in support of departmental and organizational goals.

Required Qualifications

• Require Certified Professional Coder (CPC) or Certified Coding Specialist - Physician-based (CCS-P). - Require Certified General Surgery Coder (CGSC) or become certified within one (1) year of employment.
• Require a bachelor's degree in health information management, nursing or related field. A high school diploma and four years of complex multispecialty coding experience can be considered in lieu of the degree requirement.
  
  

Preferred Qualifications

• Prefer proficiency in ICD-10-CM and CPT-4 coding systems.
• Prefer an additional CPC subspecialty certification with a minimum of three (3) years of coding management experience.
• Prefer demonstrated knowledge of professional coding and physician reimbursement.
• Prefer demonstrated knowledge of legal aspects of health information management.
• Prefer proficiency in coding inpatient, outpatient, ambulatory surgery, and emergency visit types.
• Prefer demonstrated ability to work independently, prioritize the work of self and others, make decisions, collaborate, and delegate as appropriate.
• Prefer proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
