Job Summary
This leader has accountability and oversight, and supervises the daily activities of Public Safety for the entire Sarasota Memorial Health Care System. In this role, the leader sets the tone and models positive leadership behavior, while ensuring successful completion of individual and teamwork tasks, projects, and responsibilities in support of departmental and organizational goals.
Required Qualifications
- Require a minimum of five (5) years of experience in security, military, law enforcement or related field, with at least three (3) years in a leadership/supervisory role.
- Require the following active certifications, which must be maintained active throughout employment:
IAHSS Certified Healthcare Security Officer (CHSO), IAHSS Certified Advanced Healthcare Security Officer (CAHSO), and IAHSS Certified Security Supervisor (CHSS).
- Require Instructor certification in a minimum of two (additional certifications preferred) disciplines related to the Public Safety field.
- Require International Board for Certification of Safety Managers, Certified Healthcare Emergency Professional (CHEP) within twelve (12) months of hire.

- Prefer the ability to take initiative and exercise independent judgment, as well as, demonstrated decision-making and problem-solving expertise.
- Prefer proficiency in commonly used computer software applications.
- Prefer demonstrated exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
- Prefer interpersonal skills, including the ability to handle difficult situations in a diplomatic manner.
- Prefer leadership skills and understanding of group processes and teamwork.
Mandatory Education
