Job Summary
This high level quality professional plays an active role in deploying quality methodology and tools, facilitating improvement, assuring regulatory compliance (TJC, AHCA, and CMS) and collaborating with SMHCS to achieve dramatic improvement in key business processes. Participates in coaching leaders in their use of Quality Improvement (QI) methods and analysis. Participates in educating leadership staff in the use of tools and methods to achieve broad organizational competency and confidence in process and performance improvement methods and tools. The Quality Improvement Specialist will be known for their ability to create excitement, camaraderie and the desire for excellence in those with whom they work. Reports to the Manager, Quality Improvement Patient Safety, with interaction expected among all levels of hospital employee and medical staff and external agencies.
Required Qualifications
- Require current state of Florida Registered Nurse (RN) licensure (active, eligible or retired).
- Require a Bachelor’s degree in a healthcare related field; four (4) years of relevant experience in QI and/or statistical analysis can substitute on a year for year basis for the required degree.
- Require a minimum of three (3) years of experience in quality improvement and/or statistical analysis in an acute hospital environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prefer a Master’s degree in a healthcare related field.
- Prefer one (1) year of management and/or teaching experience in the healthcare industry.
- Prefer two (2) years of experience with analytical problem solving tools, cause and effect analysis, control charts, process flow charting, process capability, process management concepts and application.
- Prefer Six Sigma Green Belt Certification.
- Prefer current knowledge of hospital related accreditation (TJC) and regulatory issues (CMS, AHCA).
- Prefer demonstrated effective training and facilitation skills.
- Prefer demonstrated ability to communicate clearly and effectively with diverse audiences.
- Prefer demonstrated computer skills: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio in Windows environment at the intermediate level.
- Prefer Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality (CPHQ) certification.
