Summary:
As a Wine & Spirits Sales Consultant, you will be responsible for building and maintaining strong relationships with liquor stores and on premise retailers, identifying sales opportunities and increasing market share of our wines, spirits, cider and beer(malt) products. Major objectives are to increase sales volume, improve distribution, grow market share, adhere to merchandising standards, enhance product shelf position, and optimize case sales per stop.
Essential Functions (must be able to be performed with or without reasonable accommodation):
- Execute and manage effective sales strategies that align with companys business objectives.
- Meet and exceed sales targets by promoting and selling our portfolio.
- Call on assigned accounts according to schedule and frequency, approved by Wine & Spirits Sales Manager.
- Adhere to all sales & merchandising standards.
- Develop retail sales plans for each account
- Attend sales functions (meetings, promotions, etc.).
- Stay informed and knowledgeable of innovative, successful, or growing brands and products not currently in the SESS portfolio.
- Provide exceptional customer service
- Conduct product samplings.
- Communicate and Collaborate with sales and brand mangers.
- Recognized internally and externally as a SESS wine and spirit category expert.
- Establish primary and secondary call frequency for on and off premise retail partners.
- Initiate special events and creative events to showcase SESS portfolio.
- Other job duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Education and/or Experience
One to two years of college course work, or one year of related sales experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience. The incumbent must have a proficient knowledge in common types of wines and liquors which will include origin, characteristics, serving recommendations and food paring of the products.
- Language Skills
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
- Mathematical Skills:
Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
- Computer Skills:
Knowledge of Database software, Ooder processing systems, spreadsheet software and word processing software. Ability to learn and use MS Power Point and other applicable software.
- Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
Ability to acquire and maintain a solicitors permit from the New York State Liquor Authority.
- Other Skills and Abilities
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Physical Requirements:
While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift up to 50 lbs.

- Ability to use personal vehicle as needed for route
Work Environment:
While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; moving mechanical parts and outside weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
