Job Overview
Saratoga Forest Management is currently seeking a qualified individual to fill the position of Forester
Saratoga Forest Management is an independent sawmill, located in Saratoga, WY and producing premium grade stud lumber and by-products. We are the largest sawmill in the area and a leading employer in Carbon County, Wyoming. This is a growing company with a loyal customer base and well-earned reputation for high quality products and superior service.
Pay will be based on candidates experience.
Duties
- Management of harvest activities and logging contractors
- Provide company administration of Federal, State, BLM, and Private contracts
- Presale and road layout
- Log quality monitoring
- This position requires typically traveling 1,000 miles per wee2k. Must have personal 4WD vehicle. Company will reimburse for company miles at the current IRS rate (2025 = 0.70 / mile.)
Skills
- Must have a Bachelor's degree in Forestry, Natural Resources, or related field.
- Knowledge of local state, and federal laws pertaining to timber harvest
- Must be able to navigate through Wyoming and Colorado state, BLM and Forest Service Timber Sales contracts
- Proficient in use of Excel, and Word required
- Must be able to work alone and in a team environment in the outdoors over rough, brushy, and uneven terrain in all weather conditions.
- Effective communication skill is mandatory
