Summary of Position: This position is responsible for providing credentialing / processing support to the Credentialing Office and its functions as assigned. This position reports directly to the Director of Medical Staff Affairs and performs tasks and duties in the area of credentialing and privileging and its related areas.
Primary Job Responsibilities:
Duties: Participates in conjunction with the Director of Medical Staff Affairs and Credentialing team the daily operations of the Credentialing Office as assigned.
Initial/Reappointments: Organizes and maintains the Initial and reappointment applications. Processes the applications, tracks responses, and insures completeness of the application. Analyzes and compares documentation received against the application for any discrepancies. Determines whether discrepancy is a potential “red flag” requiring further investigation. Maintains the credentialing and quality files and expirabel elements as assigned. Works with Department Chairs and Chiefs for sign off of files inclusive of Nurse Practitioners assures NP files are vetted by CNO prior to Credentials Committee under Magnet.
Prepares minutes and participates in Pre-Cred, Credentials Committee and if needed assist with the Board Summary minute and timely Board notification letters to the reappointed providers.
Meeting Preparation and Support: Supports the Medical Staff office with meeting coordination as assigned. Takes minutes, transcribes and conducts follow-up work required by the assigned committee.
OPPE/ FPPE: Assists as assigned with communication related to change in privileging, addition and relinquishment of privileges for Ongoing Evaluation and the Focused Evaluation schedule as this is identified. Collects, tabulates and prepares the reports as assigned. Records evaluation recommendations made by the department chair or designee when assigned as needed.
Joint Commission Preparation: Provides support to the Director of Medical Staff Affairs / Regulatory Readiness with preparations to maintain readiness compliance with medical staff standards. Participates with the Medical Staff team annually to review medical staff standards for compliance. Works collaboratively with the Director of Medical Staff Affairs on new medical staff standards as assigned and performs credentialing file audits periodically.
Miscellaneous Medical Staff Related Tasks: Participates as assigned additional tasks related to the medical staff/ credentialing functions requested by other departments or related agencies/organizations. Additionally assisting with Initial Appointments related to surge projects or as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications: High school diploma required; Associates degree or higher preferred; 2-5 years experience in the credentialing/ privileging field. CPMSM or CPCS certification required; maintenance of certification preferred.
Salary Range: $19.96 - $32.77
Pay Grade: 23
