Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant - Surgical Services, Saratoga Springs, New York
Compensation: $116,480 - $158,191 (Calculated based on years of experience)
The Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner in this role will participate as the first-assist for Orthopedics and Thoracic surgery. Also, the applicant will manage and participate in the care of peri-operative surgical patients, for the Orthopedic, Thoracic as well as the spine service. There will be collaboration between other APP's as well as the attending physicians for consultations, admissions and discharges for these mentioned services. A priority will also be maintained in the post-op care of the fast track Orthopedic patients in the Phase II area, for possible admission versus potential discharge.
In addition, responsibilities include:
Providing a range of diagnostic and therapeutic services including admission, evaluation, history and physical exams, diagnosis and evaluation relevant to proposed procedure, development of plan of care, intraoperative technique and expertise and postoperative care. All services will be provided under a collaborating or supervising physician arrangement.
Incorporating appropriate assessment and intervention skills that are age specific in all interventions and delivery of care.
Participating in peri-operative patient management in collaboration with other health care providers.
Ordering and reviewing diagnostic tests. Identifying, prescribing, and managing pharmacological therapies. Determining effectiveness of the plan of care through documentation of patient care outcomes.
Reassessing and modifying plans of care as necessary to achieve medical and health goals. Making referrals to other health professionals and community agencies.
The provider:
Admits/discharges to appropriate service. Participates in team meetings and conferences to enhance an interdisciplinary approach to health care delivery. Serves on departmental and multidisciplinary committees, which influence or determine policies affecting Advanced Practice Providers. Participates in and develops projects and quality improvement programs, as well as standards of care and practice. Maintains current level of knowledge relative to professional practice. Maintains all required professional documentation, such as license, certifications, infection control, ACLS/BLS, DEA, as well as system requirements. Acts as resource to staff and implements educational programs, as needed.
Consistently recognizes major illness and problems, referring to the proper source. Self-identifies and completes tasks deemed necessary, without initiation by physician. Seeks counsel and direction as appropriate through a collaborative/supervisory relationship and effectively utilizes Provider/Surgeon as appropriate. Clearly documents client encounters and evaluating plan appropriately.
Conducts all interactions in a confidential, courteous, professional and timely manner. Recognizes and meets the needs of all customers, adapting communication style as necessary. Facilitates a positive organizational image by providing favorable interaction in all customer contact. Encourages the interaction of co-workers and associates by maintaining open and positive communication. Recognizes and provides input regarding barriers to the effective delivery of services. Qualifications
Current license to practice as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant in New York State.
