Practice as an Advanced Practice Provider (PA/NP) Part-time as part of our Interventional Radiology team at Saratoga Hospital, Saratoga Springs, New York

Compensation: $60K - $70K

Saratoga Hospital seeks a Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner to join a dynamic group. Work as part of team with Radiologists, Physician Assistant and Radiologist Assistant, Radiology Technologists, Nurses, and more.  This opportunity is part time, Monday through Friday, no weekends, holidays or call. Hours are 8 - 12:30. 

The Interventional Radiology Advanced Practice Provider (PA/NP) serves as a point of contact between the multitude of service lines involved in patient care needs and extending patient services provided by the health care team.  The APP will exercise his/her patient care and medical decision-making autonomy within established clinical parameters regulated by the New York Board of Health Professions.  Utilizes advanced practice skills to ensure delivery and efficient care to all Interventional Radiology patients in the hospital. All services will be provided under a collaborating or supervising Physician arrangement. 

  • Provide a range of diagnostic and therapeutic services including consultation, evaluation, history and physical exams, diagnosis and evaluation relevant to proposed procedure.
  • Develop a plan of care, to include intraoperative technique, with an expertise and postoperative care.
  • Participates in perioperative patient management between the outpatient and inpatient setting.  Works in collaboration with Interventional Radiology Team and other health care providers.
  • Manages and navigates the multitude of procedures and perioperative needs of interventional radiology patients, to include, inpatients for initial consultation, rounding on post procedural patients and seeing patients in clinic for both pre and post procedural needs
  • Performs various Interventional Radiology procedures within scope of training and practice such as paracentesis, thoracentesis and Ultrasound Guided biopsies. Expansion for other procedures is possible.
  • Orders and reviews diagnostic tests and imaging exams, identifies, prescribes, and manages perioperative pharmacological therapies, determines effectiveness of the plan of care through documentation of outcomes. Reassesses and modifies plan of care as necessary to achieve medical and health goals.
  • Recognizes and meets the needs of all customers, adapting communication style as necessary. 
  • Establishes and maintains open lines of communication, both internal and external, to effectively represent department services. Identifies issues, resolve problems, and provides independent follow up.   Consistently demonstrates outstanding communication and take appropriate action.
  • Develop and maintain the knowledge, skills, abilities, and personal characteristics of all associates for the effective delivery of service to achieve organizational goals and objectives. Pursues advance training /certification.  Actively participates and promotes professional practice by participating in applicable committees. Facilitates/presents education programs.  
  • Performs other duties and/or projects as assigned.

Consistently recognizes major illness, and problems, referring to the proper source. Self-identifies and completes tasks deemed necessary, without initiation by physician.  Seeks counsel and direction as appropriate through a collaborative/supervisory relationship and effectively utilizes radiologists as resources when appropriate.  Clearly documents client encounters and evaluating plan appropriately.  

Makes referrals to other health professionals and community agencies. Participates in team meetings and conferences to enhance an interdisciplinary approach to health care delivery. Serves on departmental and multidisciplinary committees, which influence or determine policies affecting Advanced Practice Providers. Participates in and develops projects and quality improvement programs, as well as standards of care and practice.

Maintains all required professional documentation, such as license, certifications, infection control, ACLS/BLS, DEA, as well as system requirements. Acts as resource to staff and implements educational programs, as needed.  Facilitates a positive organizational image by providing favorable interaction in all customer contact.  Encourages the interaction of co-workers and associates by maintaining open and positive communication.  Recognizes and provides input regarding barriers.

Applies newly acquired skills and competencies to improve the productivity of the work group.  Frequently takes the initiative to seek out additional educational opportunities to enhance their own self-development. Obtains documents and updates medical history. Identifies health risks and needs. Performs physical examinations and conducts preventive screening procedures based on age and history. Formulates a differential diagnosis and plan of care based on history, physical examination, and clinical findings. Identifies needs of the individual, family, or community.

Graduate of a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant program, accredited by a credentialing center recognized by the Board of Health Sciences, e.g. American Nurses' Credentialing Center or the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants.

Master's level preparation preferred.  Minimum of one to two years of experience preferred. Current license to practice as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant in New York State

Pay Grade: APP     

Pay Range:  $60K -  $70K
