Nurse Practitioner: Psychiatry Inpatient and Consultation Roles, Saratoga Hospital, Saratoga Springs, NY

Compensation Range: $119K - $156K. (Tiered by years of experience.) 

Saratoga Hospital Medical Group – Behavioral Health seeks Per Diem, experienced Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioners for Inpatient Psychiatry and Consultation Liaison roles with Saratoga Hospital. 

As a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner with our group, you will provide psychiatric services within our 16-bed inpatient mental health unit or on the medical/surgical floors or in ICCU in our Consultation Liaison program.  

Under the medical direction of a collaborating physician, you will perform mental health assessments, manage the psychiatric care of patients, and provide health education to patients and their families, as well as other members of the clinical team.

Paid call is 1:10 for full and part time PMHNPs, taken by phone weekdays, rounding on weekends.

Primary Job Responsibilities:

Assessment: Functions independently to perform age-appropriate mental health assessments to patients with a psychiatric diagnosis.  Provides assessments, crisis response, medication management, direct mental health services, and medical record documentation, as required.

Psychiatric Care Planning: Formulates an initial diagnosis and treatment plan for individuals with common mental health problems.  Monitors the effectiveness of interventions.  Provides support, psychotherapy and supportive counseling for clients in regard to psychosocial, environmental, and physical well-being.  Facilitates the patient's transition within and between health care settings.  Facilitates staff, patient and family decision-making by providing educational tools.

Communication and Collaboration: Demonstrates appropriate and thorough communication with all disciplines in order to facilitate/support positive patient outcomes.  Collaborates with multidisciplinary team members by making appropriate referrals, providing consultation on individual patients, and at time educating staff on behavioral health topics.

Leadership: Applies leadership skills as clinical role model, leading clinical skill development, fostering critical thinking skills, promoting safe practice and acting as a liaison/consult as needed.

Committees/Participation: Actively participates and promotes professional practice by participating in applicable committees.  Continues education through workshops, conferences, in-services and self-study.

Personal Evaluation: Consistently evaluates performance through self-evaluation and seeks feedback from all disciplines, recognizes when changes in practice need to be fostered to ultimately improve patient outcomes.

Minimum Qualifications: Currently licensed as Nurse Practitioner in the State of New York.  Minimum of two years' experience in Psychiatric or Mental Health Center setting.

Pay Range: $57.21- $75.21
