What are the responsibilities and job description for the Supervisor, Lab position at Saratoga Hospital?
Summary of Position: Supervises and coordinates day to day activities and ensures smooth and efficient operation of the laboratory to provide quality patient care.
Primary Job Responsibilities:
- Delegates and supervises the routine operations of the section and maintains good communication with all clinical decisions of the laboratory and hospital.
- Reviews and updates all policy, procedure and instrument manuals to ensure compliance with accreditation, legal and regulatory requirements.
- Meets annual requirements for budgetary purposes of capital equipment, supplies, wages and salaries and submits to Director any monthly variances.
- Conducts performance appraisals for personnel within area of authority using administrative guidelines and procedures within time line.
- Provides direction to lab personnel to ensure achievement of clinical lab goals and objectives, teamwork and employee achievement and development. Provides appropriate discipline as needed.
- Monitors trends in technology and recommends new tests and instruments as needed.
- Evaluates calibration, quality control data and documentation to ensure compliance with tolerance limits, quality test results and proper instrument functioning; identifies any persistent problem or situation that requires additional action and provides follow up to resolve issues.
Supervisory Responsibilities: Supervises Clinical Lab Technologists and Clinical Lab Technicians.
Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent. Minimum of six (6) years pertinent clinical laboratory experience subsequent to qualifying as a technologist of which two (2) years have been spent working with in a clinical laboratory having a director at the doctorial level. At least 2 years of laboratory supervisory experience is preferred.
Salary Range: $40.74 - $60.09
Pay Grade: SCL
Compensation may vary based upon, but not limited to: overall experience and qualifications, shift, and location.
