POSITION SUMMARY:
The Saratoga Regional YMCA is hiring for a Program Assistant and we are excited to have you join our team! This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit, charitable organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. Provides support, instruction and motivation for youth sports participants. Creates a safe and positive atmosphere that welcomes and respects all individuals and promotes safety in accordance with YMCA policies and procedures.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Leads and/or assists with the instruction and supervision of all practices. Helps to develop participants’ skill and promote their involvement as part of a class.
- Ensures the safety and well-being of each child under their supervision and maintains a creative and playful atmosphere for all participants.
- Maintains records as required (i.e. attendance, progress reports, etc.).
- Organizes and puts away needed class equipment. Reports damaged equipment.
- Conveys information on youth programs and schedules and as appropriate refers students and parents to other programs.
- Identifies and celebrates the successes of members and program participants, as well as proactively communicating areas of concern.
- Follows all YMCA policies, rules, regulations and procedures, including emergency and safety procedures. Completes incident and accident reports as necessary.
- Knows and reviews all emergency procedures and responds to emergency situations immediately in accordance with YMCA policies, procedures, completes related reports as required.
- Builds effective, authentic relationships with members; helps them connect with each other and the Y. Identifies potential volunteers.

Requirements
- Minimum age of 15 years old; Must be able to furnish working papers
- 1 year of previous sports team participation experience
- Current CPR PRO & First Aid certifications
