Licensure and Certification:
- Full and unrestricted license in a U.S. state, territory, or the District of Columbia.
- ARRT-US license or ARDMS certification is mandatory.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from an American Heart Association-recognized provider.
- Minimum of 1 year of experience performing general and vascular ultrasound examinations.
- Strong computer literacy; familiarity with Oracle/Cerner EHR is preferred. Training will be provided.
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals, including radiologic technologists, physicians, nurses, and allied health staff, to deliver comprehensive care to VA inpatients and outpatients.
- Serve as an integral member of the interdisciplinary Radiology Department, operating in a 100% digital imaging and PACS environment.
- Perform a wide range of high-quality diagnostic ultrasound examinations, including:
- General imaging (e.g., thyroid, abdomen, pelvis, retroperitoneal, transvaginal, first-trimester fetal).
- Breast ultrasound.
- Vascular Doppler imaging (e.g., ankle-brachial indices, carotid arteries, extremity vasculature).
- Process, document, and manage images using Oracle/Cerner Electronic Health Record (EHR) and PACS applications.
- Maintain patient records and documentation according to FHCC protocols.
- Ensure proper functioning of ultrasound equipment and report malfunctions to the Ultrasound Supervisor.
- Assist physicians during diagnostic and therapeutic procedures by preparing patients and equipment.
- Identify and respond appropriately to emergency situations within the ultrasound environment.
- Educate and comfort patients during procedures, reducing anxiety and encouraging cooperation.
- Uphold patient privacy and confidentiality in compliance with federal standards.
