Controls Engineering Internship

Controls Engineering Internship
Controls team has many developments running concurrently. Several include implementing and testing control algorithms on hardware. To allow proper allocation of engineers, a summer or fall intern to perform robot testing and learn Sarcos and robotics standard practice would be very beneficial. In addition, training documentation generated from the internship would represent an ROI on training work invested. Should the intern be invited back, we have seen good return on internships turning into excellent engineers.
Role/Responsibilities:
- Assisting in robot controls tests
- Debugging robot performance issues
- Facilitating higher robot performance repeatability
- Preform load cell bias analysis
- Develop automatic detection of robot range of operation
- Learning robot control algorithms for debug purposes.
- Projects assigned based on interest and strength of skills
Competencies:
- Proactive; ability to work independently and be resourceful in finding solutions to complex problems
- Solid communication skills (written and verbal)
- Collaboration and team orientation
- Strong influence on decision making, conflict resolution skills, excellent interpersonal and coaching skills
- Curiosity to learn Robotics and Control concepts
Qualifications:
- Minimum: 1 year of undergraduate in an Engineering field or related field, required
- Pervious robotics experience (FIRST Robotics League, LEGO Mindstorms, DYI Projects), preferred
Work Environment and Physical Demands:
- Work is performed Monday through Friday in office with ability to work overtime as needed.
- Able to lift 30 pounds or more
- Able to move throughout the test area safely
- Able to perform safety obligations
