WEEKEND ANCHOR / REPORTER

Sarkes Tarzian is seeking a seasoned Weekend Anchor / Reporter for KTVN- 2 News Nevada in beautiful Reno, Nevada. The purpose of the Weekend Anchor / Reporter position is to build and sustain trust and appeal to the 2 News Nevada audience and help earn the highest ratings possible. The Weekend News Anchor / Reporter should make sure the newscast is delivered to our audience in a clear manner they can understand and in a style that appeals to them and supports “Coverage You Can Count On.” The Weekend News Anchor / Reporter must make his / her mark in the community through personal appearances and involvement with different organizations.

The schedule is as follows : Saturday / Sunday evening shows (5pm, 6 : 30pm, 11pm); Weekday reporting Wednesday-Friday (regular daytime hours).

Duties And Responsibilities

Anchoring newscasts
General assignment reporting
Motivate newsroom and provide leadership for other employees
Willing and able to take charge in breaking news situations
Be involved in the community
Stay up to date on local and state issues, and have or develop extensive knowledge about northern Nevada
Write and read copy for live newscasts
Collaborate with News Producer to make decisions concerning news content

Requirements And Qualifications

Bachelor’s in Journalism (preferred)

High school degree or equivalent (required)

One year of live anchoring

Valid driver’s license and clean driving record

Write copy for broadcast conversational style

Knowledge of how to edit video for TV news

Bring story ideas to the table and plan in advance for ratings period

NOTE : The News Department functions 24 / 7 and this position can require long hours, unplanned interruptions at odd hours, and could involve weekend and occasional holiday work requirements.
