Job Overview
We are currently seeking a Composites Technician to join our innovative team. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in the fabrication and assembly of composite materials used in the construction of our autonomous surface vessels (ASVs).
Responsibilities:
- Fabricate composite structures and components according to engineering drawings, specifications, and manufacturing instructions.
- Perform lay-up, vacuum bagging, and curing processes for composite materials, ensuring quality and adherence to project requirements.
- Operate hand and power tools, as well as specialized equipment, for cutting, trimming, and finishing composite parts and assemblies.
- Conduct quality inspections and tests on composite materials and products to verify conformance to design specifications and industry standards.
- Collaborate with engineering and design teams to troubleshoot issues and implement improvements in composite manufacturing processes.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area, adhering to safety protocols and regulations for handling composite materials and chemicals.
- Document work performed, including process parameters, inspection results, and any deviations from established procedures.
- Assist in the development and implementation of new composite manufacturing techniques and technologies to improve efficiency and quality.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; vocational training or certification in composite fabrication preferred.
- Proven experience in composite manufacturing, including lay-up, vacuum bagging, and curing processes.
- Familiarity with composite materials, resins, and adhesives commonly used in aerospace or marine applications.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and technical documents related to composite fabrication.
- Proficiency in operating hand and power tools, as well as composite-specific equipment such as resin mixing systems and curing ovens.
- Strong attention to detail and quality standards, with the ability to produce high-quality composite parts and assemblies.
- Effective communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
- Willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies and techniques in composite manufacturing.
