Responsibilities
- Design and optimize fluid systems for the autonomous surface vessels, including propulsion systems, cooling loops, fuel systems, and hydraulic circuits.
- Use fluid dynamics and thermodynamics principles to develop efficient, high-performance systems that meet operational and safety requirements.
- Perform detailed system analysis and simulations using computational tools (e.g., ANSYS Fluent, MATLAB) to ensure designs meet performance and reliability standards.
- Collaborate with other engineering teams (e.g., electrical, mechanical, naval architecture) to integrate fluid systems into the overall vessel design.
- Ensure that fluid systems function seamlessly with other subsystems, such as power generation, propulsion, and energy management, to optimize vessel performance.
- Support interdisciplinary design reviews and ensure that fluid systems are properly integrated into overall vessel architecture.
- Develop testing protocols to validate fluid system designs and ensure they meet all operational and environmental performance requirements.
- Analyze test data and identify opportunities for system optimization, troubleshooting, and improving the overall design.
- Provide recommendations for design improvements and iterate on designs based on testing feedback and operational data.
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Marine Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field.
- 5 years of experience in the design and analysis of fluid systems, preferably in marine, aerospace, or defense industries.
- Hands-on experience with fluid system design, including propulsion, cooling, hydraulic, and fuel systems.
- Proficiency with engineering software tools (e.g., ANSYS Fluent, SolidWorks, MATLAB, or similar) for fluid dynamics and system modeling.
- Strong knowledge of fluid dynamics, thermodynamics, heat transfer, and materials science.
- Familiarity with the design, integration, and troubleshooting of complex fluid systems.
- Understanding of relevant codes and standards, such as MIL-STD, MIL-SPEC, and ASME, for fluid systems in defense applications.
