Job Overview :
The Commodity Manager is responsible for overseeing the sourcing and procurement of materials and components within a specific commodity category, ensuring cost-effective and efficient supply chain operations. This role works closely with internal stakeholders, suppliers, and cross-functional teams to drive supplier performance, optimize inventory, mitigate risks, and manage commodity strategies that align with the organization's business objectives.
Responsibilities
- Commodity Sourcing and Procurement : Lead sourcing and procurement activities for assigned commodity groups, including raw materials, components, or services. Establish and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers to ensure reliable and cost-effective supply chains.
- Cost Management and Optimization : Develop and implement cost-saving strategies and continuous improvement programs. Negotiate prices, contracts, and terms with suppliers to optimize cost structures while maintaining quality standards.
- Supplier Relationship Management : Collaborate with suppliers to ensure on-time delivery, high-quality standards, and continuous improvement in performance. Monitor supplier performance using key performance indicators (KPIs) and implement corrective actions when necessary.
- Inventory Management : Work closely with inventory and logistics teams to ensure appropriate inventory levels are maintained for materials and components. Minimize excess inventory and reduce supply chain bottlenecks.
- Risk Management : Identify and manage risks within the supply chain, including supply disruptions, price volatility, and supplier reliability. Develop contingency plans to mitigate potential supply chain disruptions.
