Position Overview
We are seeking a Senior Wire Harness Engineer to own the design, development, and integration of electrical wiring systems for our fleet of autonomous surface vessels. You’ll be responsible for routing, assembly, and testing of wire harnesses to ensure robust electrical connectivity in rugged maritime environments. This is a hands-on, cross-disciplinary role where you’ll work closely with mechanical, electrical, and systems engineers from initial concept through field deployment.
\n- Design and document wire harness assemblies for AC and DC power, data, and signal distribution across autonomous marine vessels.
- Define harness routes for EMI and other environmental considerations in marine environments.
- Develop schematics, wiring diagrams, and harness drawings using tools such as Rapid Harness, SolidWorks Electrical, Capital, or similar.
- Collaborate with harness fabrication, either in-house or with external vendors, ensuring quality and traceability.
- Experience working with high-speed digital communication protocols.
- Manage harness configurations across prototypes and production units.
- Root cause design issues on the production floor and institute corrective actions.
- B.S. in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or related field.
- 3 years of experience designing and integrating wire harnesses in aerospace, defense, automotive, robotics, or maritime systems.
- Strong familiarity with military-grade connectors, cable shielding, and ruggedization best practices.
- Proficiency with wire harness design tools (e.g., Zuken, SolidWorks Electrical, AutoCAD Electrical, Capital).
- Comfortable creating schematics, block diagrams, and system-level wiring documents.
- Experience working in prototype and low-volume production environments.
- Experience with IPC/WHMA-A-620, UL 508A, MIL-HDBK-525, MIL-HDBK-454, MIL-HDBK-863, MIL-STD-810
