SUMMARY

The experienced team member will lead efforts to improve operations and processes in the production environment. To be successful in this role, the team member will utilize lean manufacturing and process excellence principles, along with data collection, to improve output. They will also be responsible for teaching and coaching team members on these principles. This hands-on position will focus on ensuring safety, quality, and productivity by developing standard operating procedures and processes. This position will focus on small pack. This position works onsite on a flexible first shift schedule. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned. 

  • Leads continuous improvement initiatives to expand manufacturing capabilities, lower operational costs and increase process efficiencies. 
  • Works cross-functionally on purchased equipment manufacturing standards and performance expectations. 
  • Works cross-functionally with manufacturing engineering and maintenance in development of effective preventive maintenance procedures for equipment. 
  • Develops and manages capacity models for production lines and works with plant management team to ensure capital purchases are aligned with capacity projections. 
  • Analyzes, designs, and implements changes to equipment layout and workflow. 
  • Develops work instructions, training, and statistical performance measures for new or improved processes and equipment and ensures it is effectively transitioned to operations team. 
  • Analyzes processing and packaging technology and equipment to effectively recommend the most effective methods of manufacturing. 
  • Works directly with product development to determine appropriate process to commercialize new products, develop commercialization cost models and assure a smooth transition from concept to full scale production. 
  • Conducts time studies, collects data for downtime analysis and run rates. 
  • Communicates run rate changes due to process improvements to the planning team to ensure production schedule accuracy. 
  • Promotes continuous improvement culture throughout the facility with Team Members. 
  • Immediately reports any food safety or quality issues to management or other individuals authorized to initiate action. 
  • Support all Sartori locations for process, equipment and capital needs. 

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE 

  • Bachelor’s degree (B.S) in Engineering (Mechanical/Electrical/Industrial/Manufacturing Systems) required. 
  • 5-10 years’ experience in roles optimizing process and equipment performance and team member training required. 
  • Relevant experience analyzing operational capacity vs. planned production and implementing equipment installations for efficiency, required. 
  • Understanding and application of Statistical Process Control. 
  • Experience within the food, pharmaceutical, or chemical industries preferred.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office products, AutoCAD, Solidworks and Minitab software.
