Machine learning Engineer / scientist – ranking, recommendation systems and personalization

Are you a Machine learning engineer / scientist who has worked on advanced models for ranking, personalization of recommendation systems? If the answer is ‘Yes’ then we have an incredible opportunity for you.

We are working with an AI start-up company that is currently being incubated internally at a world leading quant fund. They are set to roll out the business within the next year and the company (which has a lot of backing from senior executive) will be fully funded by the hedge fund.

They are currently in ‘scale-up mode’ and are looking to hire multiple machine learning engineer / scientists who can help build their models from the ground up. They are particularly interested talking to individuals who have worked models for ranking, personalization and recommendation systems – so if you are tired of working on large legacy systems, where all of the exciting work has already been carried out, and you want to work on something truly impactful, then this could be the role for you!

Responsibilities include:

• Drive research ideas from first-principles conceptualization to practical realization.
• Research, train, evaluate, and improve machine learning models for ranking and personalization.
• Develop innovative strategies for creating, collecting, and assessing high-quality datasets, including synthetic data generation.
• Design robust evaluation techniques and benchmarks for assessing diverse product properties.
• Conduct experiments to evaluate new methodologies and their impact on product outcomes.
• Stay up-to-date with the latest machine learning research to inform and guide model development.
• Analyze data to uncover patterns, correlations, and opportunities for improvement.
• Conduct applied research to develop and launch models that enhance strategic products.
• Work cross-functionally with engineers, business stakeholders, and subject matter experts to align solutions with business goals.

Requirements

• 2-10 years of experience working as a machine learning engineer / scientist (interested in L4-L7 profiles).
• Deep expertise in designing and implementing end-to-end ML systems, particularly in ranking or recommendation
• Expert knowledge of machine learning fundamentals including feature engineering, model selection, evaluation metrics, and monitoring
• Proven ability to design and evaluate machine learning models, benchmarks, and experiments.
• Strong coding skills in Python and experience with NLP and ML frameworks (e.g. PyTorch, TensorFlow)
• Experience with feature stores, model serving infrastructure, and ML pipelines
