What are the responsibilities and job description for the Full Stack Software Engineer position at SAS Institute?

What you’ll do

We’re looking for a Full Stack Software Engineer to our agile IoT team focused on using streaming analytics to solve challenging industry problems that matter, things like detecting floods before they happen, saving precious vaccines in cold storage transit and hopefully more in the future with your help. These solutions are built on SAS’s Event Streaming Platform with models from our data scientists, and we are looking to bring that data to life across various industries in ways that matter to our users on their native cloud platforms. You will:

  • Collaborating with designers and other developers to realize intuitive user experiences using React and supporting frameworks
  • Visualizing data from various models working with data scientists
  • Creating and expanding APIs for analytics-based solutions
  • Maintaining and optimizing application performance for improved speed and scalability
  • Ensure our apps strike a balance between functional and aesthetic design
  • Get feedback from, and build solutions for, customers and users
  • Building portable reusable code for multiple applications or future use
  • Ensure high quality graphic standards, performance and consistency across our applications 

What we’re looking for

  • You have a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related quantitative field
  • 5 years of development experience
  • 2 years of development experience in JavaScript and React
  • 2 years of experience with Go
  • Knowledge and experience developing applications on managed Kubernetes services ex: AKS
  • Experience with Docker containers and microservice based architecture
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and get up to speed quickly on unfamiliar services
  • Experience utilizing data visualization libraries.
  • Open to agile development practices and to working in continuous delivery environments
  • Experience with SQL and or NoSQL Databases.
  • You’re curious, passionate, authentic and accountable. These are our values and influence everything we do.

The nice to haves

  • Understanding of CI/CD pipelines
  • Front-end test automation and performance optimizations
  • Familiarity with analytic techniques and data streaming technologies
  • Open-source contributions relevant to the above
  • Certifications related to microservice application development, especially Microsoft Certified: Azure Developer Associate and/or Certified Kubernetes Application Developer (CKAD)
