About the job
As a Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET) and a member of the Data Management team in the R&D division at SAS, you will be joining a friendly team with a broad range of experience, working alongside a tenured team ready to join you in the next stages of your career. Projects span a diverse set of technologies for data connectivity, data integration and data transformation.
As a Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET), you will:
- Create and maintain the highest quality of test automation, uses modern development techniques, and provides key data points to support metrics-based decision making.
- Apply your automated tests at every layer of the application stack, both inside and outside of our continuous delivery pipeline.
- Share your creativity by leading/performing effective exploratory testing.
- Utilize observability and monitoring tools to proactively detect and remediate failures.
- Communicate effectively within a technical team environment, contributing to discussions with developers, product managers, and support teams.
- Participate in code reviews across product, test, and infrastructure codebases to ensure quality and maintainability.
- Adhere to and promote secure software development practices, ensuring all applicable security policies and procedures are followed throughout the development lifecycle.
Required qualifications
- Five years of experience writing software applications, testing software, and/or general programming.
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, or a related quantitative field.
- Proficiency in programming languages, such as Java, JavaScript, and Go, but particularly Python.
- Experience developing and maintaining automated test scripts or frameworks for APIs, web applications, or similar.
- Experience with bug management and source control systems such as Jira and Git.
- Strong understanding of software development practices (source control, branching, code reviews).
- Strong attention to detail and a natural focus on quality.
- Familiarity with web development (i.e. JavaScript/Typescript, React, theming, browser debugging) and web testing tools (i.e. Selenium, Robot Framework, Playwright).
Preferred qualifications
- Experience with containerization, cloud architectures, and at least one major cloud provider technologies (i.e. Docker, Kubernetes, Azure, GCP, AWS, etc.).
- Experience with Continuous Integration and Delivery tools such as Git/Gerrit/Jenkins, GitHub, Gitlab, or similar.
- Familiarity with performance testing tools such as JMeter, LoadRunner, Locust, or similar
