The Scenics department is responsible for designing, fabricating, installing and dismantling trade show booth properties at sites locally and around the country. We have an experienced team of designer/ fabricators that wish to share their knowledge and craft.   

  

As an intern, you might:  

  • Use our well-equipped professional shop to fabricate millwork properties made of industrial materials.  
  • Learn about CNC cutting for tradeshows and cabinetry. 
  • Pull and build structures using our frame systems for video set production and trade show pre-staging. 
  • Work in other areas of our department -like Art and Printing.  
  • Organize and clean. 

  

Required Qualifications  

  • Associates degree or experience equivalent. 
  • Targeted majors: Theater Arts and Architecture or related fields
  • You’re a college student enrolled in an accredited program, not graduating prior to December 2025.  
  • Working knowledge of industrial shop equipment and construction methods.  
  • You’re curious, passionate, authentic, and accountable. These are our values and influence everything we do.  
  • Strong communication skills – both written and verbal.  
  • Leadership abilities. Your past experiences demonstrate you’ll take initiative and go above and beyond the call of duty.  
  • You’re interested in the future of Analytics and embrace technology.  

  

Preferred Qualifications  

  • Read construction plans and able to follow directions to fabricate exhibit properties.   
  • Use of Excel, Word, Photoshop and basic office software.
  • Familiar with AutoCad or Solidworks a plus

Location  

  • This position will be In person at SAS HQ in Cary, NC. All work is performed in our shop, on campus or locally for installations.  

  

Internship dates:

May 20 – August 8, 2025. We can be flexible on start date if your university is on a quarter system.  Internships last 12 weeks in total length.

Pay Transparency: The hourly rate for SAS internships is determined by the applicant’s year in school and the position they are hired into. Hourly rates range from $15 – $31 for associate’s/bachelor’s level positions and $29 - $49/hour for master’s/Ph.D positions. Internship roles are not eligible for bonus. This is a Services Intern position with a target pay rate of $15/hr.
