Purpose of Job

Purpose of Job
- Responsible for coordinating outbound and inbound shipments from Sasol plants and explant locations and having required logistics assets in place to meet external and internal needs
- Provide guidance/recommendations to internal Sasol groups (Operations. P&O, Customer Service) on how to optimize loading/unloading and shipments to best minimize impact of infrastructure and logistics assets constrains
- Maintain ongoing relationship and communicate daily with internal stakeholders such as Customer Service, Strategic Sourcing, P&O and Unit Operations to develop loading / unloading schedules to meet production and customer shipment needs.
- Manage and plan railcars / trucks customer shipments to meet scheduled ship dates while minimizing the impact of infrastructure and operations constraints. Take prompt action to address shipping failures.
- Proactively works with Senior Analyst and Logistics Supervisor to ensure logistics equipment (cars/trucks) is available to meet customer demand while managing SIT yard inventory levels within target levels.
- Enter and maintain accurate rail information in SAP. Ensure railcar maintenance (regulatory and operating requirements) is completed timely with minimal impact on railcar supply / availability.
- Monitor daily the location of cars / trucks and take necessary action to keep equipment moving per plan. Responds to incoming customer inquiries on equipment – assists the units and Customer Service Representatives with general information order information – location, delays, movement status, movement updates)
- Assists and supports the Finance/Accounting team month-end/year-end closing process as well as daily activity requirements inventory
- Prepare documents required for shipment of product.
- Accurately reviews and prepares Logistics invoices for payment
- Work in compliance with the Quality Management System requirements. Utilizes proactive and/or reactive approach to prevent, correct and inform Customer Service Representatives on events that could result in non-conformances
- Prepare documentation for OTMA submittals
- High School / School Diploma or similar with 7 years in distribution or related business experience or
- University Bachelor’s Degree with 3 years in distribution or related business experience
- Experience with plant Logistics operations, rail/truck equipment and regulatory requirements
- Manage relationships to provide superior delivery performance
- Work with Customer Service/Business teams to resolve service issues
- Broad knowledge of chemical industry operations and products
- Proficient in Microsoft Office- Excel, Word, Powerpoint; working knowledge of SAP
- Effective communication skills both oral and written
- Strong negotiation and organizational skills
- Strong analytical background with ability to solve problems quickly and effectively.
- Ability to handle a high volume of work in a fast-paced environment
