Purpose of Job
- Manage execution of the monthly Sales and Operations Plan (S&OP) through inventory and production schedule management
- Develop strategies for production, inventory, and supply chain optimization to efficiently meet business objectives and ensure a high level of customer service
- Work closely with Operations, M&S, Customer Fulfillment, Strategic Sourcing, and others to continuously improve performance, optimize costs, coordinate resolution of issues, improve business processes, and take advantage of synergies among assets and regions
- Support optimization and improvement activities across value chains and/or regions as directed by the Planner Leader
Key Accountabilities
- Manage execution of the monthly Sales and Operations Plan (S&OP) and related production schedules; monitor progress against plan and manage deviations; ensure appropriate actions are taken to mitigate risks and threats
- Perform timely supply/demand evaluations with respect to rapidly changing markets and economics
- Balance operational constraints and business objectives in developing the monthly S&OP taking into account agreements, capacity, inventory, efficiency, service level, and profitability
- Identify demand and supply risks, internal and external, and develop/implement contingency plan(s)
- Develop rationale for inventory targets based on business strategy and customer service objectives; manage inventory to targets; and develop inventory optimization opportunities with a focus on inventory reduction
- Identify and implement programs that reduce cost, increase efficiency, and align procedures
- Facilitate efforts on problem resolution and root cause analysis of quality and service incidents
- Primary plant contact for Customer Service Representative(s) for associated product line
Formal Education
University Bachelors Degree in Engineering or Technical
Working Experience
Experience: 5 relevant years
Required Personal/Professional Skills
- Strong team player with the ability to effectively develop and manage key relationships
- Good communication both written and verbal in English with strong presentation skills
- Highly motivated with strong problem-solving and analytical skills
- Good leadership and influence management skills
- Strong business acumen with a basic understanding of the Chemicals value proposition at Sasol
- Good computer skills: Windows, Word, Excel (including Dashboards), PowerPoint, etc.
- Experience in chemical or refining business/operations
- APICS Certification (CPIM) a plus
- Experience working in SAP a plus
