What are the responsibilities and job description for the Material Processing Technician position at SasquatchXC?
Summary
The Material Processing Technician’s primary role is to assist with the cutting, grinding, and preparation of materials for welding and powder coating. Additionally, we consider this a customer service role, candidates are expected to greet visitors, be friendly and take the time to talk to them. A successful candidate will have the desire for continuous improvement, be organized and can read engineering drawings. They need to be open to training and coaching sessions, and exhibit characteristics of honesty, dependability, and professionalism. Maintaining a team-oriented and positive attitude at all times is a must.
Essential Functions
- Perform activities such as precision cutting, grinding, preparation for powder coating, assembly of frame, suspension and other body components, and other technician duties.
- Ensure quality control processes are being followed and perform inspections of parts.
- Ensure any quality control concerns are raised to management immediately and corrective action when needed.
- Follow production scheduling priorities to optimize productivity and efficiency during manufacturing.
- Communicate deadline, design, or supply chain issues and equipment needs to management immediately.
- Establish and maintain positive working relationships with other employees.
- Communicate and interact effectively with management and team members through verbal and written means.
- Maintain clean and tidy workstations. Understand and implement basic 5S principles.
- Maintain high level of accountability for performance and quality of work.
- Perform other duties and assist other departments as required.
Minimum Requirements
- Ability to read, understand, and follow detailed drawings, schematics, Engineering specifications and test procedures.
- Ability to measure and cut to extremely tight tolerances.
- Ability to safely run power tools, including saws, sanders, drills and grinders.
- Possess dexterity skills, in order to work with hand tools, test equipment, and computers.
- Willingness to learn manufacturing processes and be able to effectively troubleshoot problems.
- Adaptable in a changing work environment, including toolbox and workstation changes, 5S optimization process improvements.
- Communicate time off requests to management with sufficient advance, allowing time for planning.
- A High School Diploma is required. Trade School or experience in a fabrication environment is desired.
