About the Role:

• Review and re-code up to 36 property site submissions via online processing portals, ensuring accurate entry into the accounting system while meeting tight deadlines for weekly and period close.
• Monitor and maintain timely processing of electronic payables in a paperless environment.
• Manage high-volume AP dashboards, processing up to 2,000 items per month. Conduct paperless check runs via the BillPay system, with occasional hardcopy printing as needed.
• Enter and monitor corporate payables, including auto-pay transactions for expenses beyond site control (e.g., utility and telephone bills).
• Perform detailed analysis of vendor invoices, credit/debit memos, and utility payment discrepancies.
• Reconcile vendor statements on a monthly basis.
• Provide exceptional customer service by responding promptly to internal and external stakeholders, including property staff, supervisors, and vendors. Foster and maintain positive working relationships.
• Ensure resident security deposit dispositions are processed within 21 days in compliance with applicable housing laws.
• Maintain a standardized, paperless filing system across all properties to ensure proper documentation and compliance with company policies and GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles).
• Investigate discrepancies and collaborate with the Yardi Help Desk to resolve nonstandard Payscan System errors. Assist property teams with day-to-day inquiries related to Yardi workflows.
• Support special projects as assigned by the Controller.
• Assist in year-end closing and 1099 processing.

• Processes incoming low-volume payments for SMC, ensuring compliance with financial policies and procedures.

• Tasks include verifying, classifying, computing, posting, and recording accounts receivable data.

• Examples of payments include quarterly cable income and occasional collections received at the Corporate office.

• Note: Payment volume is primarily handled at the site level, not by this position.

Qualifications: 

• 5 years of experience in accounts payable and receivable.
• Real estate industry experience required.
• Recent experience with Yardi Voyager 7S is mandatory.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to present and explain complex information clearly.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including intermediate Excel (must be comfortable working with spreadsheets and basic pivot tables), Word, and Outlook.
• Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills with strong attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently, manage multiple projects and deadlines, and take ownership of tasks with minimal supervision.
• Self-motivated with high ethical standards and a proactive approach to problem-solving
