Human Resources Generalist – Job Description
Reports to: HR Business PartnerSUMMARY:
The HR Generalist supports the HR Business Partner, managers and employees to address staffing, training, employee engagement, communication and relations. The candidate will have outstanding administrative abilities with exceptional organizational skills.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Partners with managers to recruit by supporting with the sourcing of candidates and the selection process
- Recruits qualified candidates through website, job boards, newspaper advertising, approved agencies, and other recruiting sources
- Plans and conducts new employee orientation to foster positive attitude towards company goals
- Coordinates new employee safety training and onboarding
- Provides consultation in partnership with compensation on issues such as job description, market pricing and internal equity issues
- Assists with daily administrative duties of the office
- Plans and coordinates employee engagement activities
- Assists with payroll related items to include schedules and timekeeping
- Assists with company communications
- Works with managers in managing employee performance issues, escalate all concerns to HR Business Partner for review and approval
- Recommend employment policy modification to ensure business needs are met and the Company is in compliance with federal and state regulations
- Maintain a high level of knowledge of technical/professional developments related to human resources management & administration and employment legislation
- Maintain required documentation and records to meet reporting, regulatory, and best practices requirements
- Project management to include leading, coordinating and driving Human Resources projects and programs
- Maintain strict confidentiality of employee data and other employment information
- Perform other duties as assigned
- Bachelors’ Degree or equivalent experience and 2 years functioning in a human resources generalist position
- PHR/SPHR preferred, but not required
- Knowledge of state and federal employment laws (FMLA, ADA, EEO, etc.)
- Familiarity with all HR functions (Talent Acquisition, Talent Management, Compliance, Benefits, etc.)
- Strong foundational knowledge of human resources practices and procedures
- Skill in conducting and documenting inquiries, investigations, audits and reviews
- Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of employment law, common HR practices, and project management methodologies and tools
- Perform all position responsibilities in a manner which meets company performance & behavior expectations
- This position demonstrates a high level of integrity, a strong depth of knowledge, and a pro-active approach to customer service
