The Role: We are looking for a motivated and detail-oriented Environmental Technician to join our Anchorage-based team. This entry-level to early-career role offers the opportunity to work alongside experienced environmental professionals, supporting site investigations, hazardous material assessments, and technical reporting. You will play a key part in collecting environmental data, interpreting regulations, analytical results and contributing to the delivery of high-quality consulting services. This position requires a strong work ethic, initiative, and the ability to work independently in the field and in an office setting. Job Type: Contract, Full-time
Compensation: $55,000 – $65,000 annually, depending on experience.
Hours: Standard 8-hour shifts, Monday–Friday
Location: Anchorage, AK – Must currently reside in Anchorage. Relocation is not applicable.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct environmental site assessments and hazardous building material surveys (asbestos, lead, mold, etc.)
- Collect samples, perform field inspections, and document site conditions
- Author clear, accurate technical reports and regulatory documentation
- Assist project managers with various field and administrative tasks
- Apply environmental regulations and best practices in the field
- Follow all job site health and safety protocols
- Travel occasionally to project sites throughout Alaska
- Contribute to identifying business development opportunities as appropriate
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree required.
(In some cases, 4 years of relevant environmental or construction experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.)
- At least 2 years of experience in a professional office-based role.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to stay organized in a fast-paced environment.
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel and Word.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel within Alaska as needed.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Certifications such as AHERA Building Inspector or EPA Lead Inspector/Risk Assessor (or willingness to obtain).
- Familiarity with small business environments.
· Interest in business development or client relations.
