SAU #20 is seeking an organized and detail-oriented individual to support the Director of Student Services in ensuring high-quality special education services for students. The Assistant Director plays a vital role in collaborating with the Director of Student Services to assist with administrative, organizational, and compliance-related tasks, helping to maintain an inclusive and effective learning environment. This position requires strong communication skills and a team-oriented approach, working closely with teachers, paraprofessionals, administrators, and families to support students with diverse learning needs.
Responsibilities include assisting in the implementation of policies and procedures aligned with state and federal special education laws, supporting the preparation and submission of reports to the NH Department of Education, and ensuring compliance with special education regulations. The assistant will work in partnership with the Director of Student Services to coordinate meetings, training sessions, and professional development opportunities, while also reviewing and managing Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and 504 plans. Additional duties include organizing and maintaining confidential student records and documentation, as well as supporting the Director in monitoring and evaluating the effectiveness of special education programs.
The ideal candidate will have a Master’s degree preferred in education, special education, administration, or a related field (preferred) and experience working in special education or an educational administrative setting. Strong organizational and time-management skills, effective oral and written communication, and knowledge of state and federal special education laws, including IDEA and NH Rules for the Education of Children with Disabilities, are essential.
