POSITION DESCRIPTION:

SAU41 invites highly qualified education leaders to apply for the position of Director of Technology. The Director of Technology provides leadership, management, and implementation of the district's vision of technology as it relates to both administrative and educational technology. SAU41 has a 1-to-1 Chromebook program in grades 1-12.

The Director of Technology is responsible for all aspects of information and educational technology management and control, including supervision of technology team members, technical acquisitions including hardware and software, budget preparation and management, technology infrastructure, and development of policies, guidelines, standards, and procedures. The Director ensures compliance with NH State laws and regulations regarding technology use, cybersecurity, and student data privacy, including RSA 189:66 (Student and Teacher Information Protection and Privacy).

The Director of Technology provides leadership in all District administrative and educational technology initiatives with the ultimate goal of positively impacting teaching, learning, and operational efficiencies. The Director must possess initiative and drive, be forward-thinking, innovative, and have broad relevant technical knowledge with strong management expertise, as well as excellent written and verbal communication skills. The role also includes oversight of data governance policies, ensuring secure handling, storage, and transmission of student and staff data in compliance with state and federal laws such as FERPA and COPPA. The Director will implement a data privacy program, conduct regular staff training, and work with legal counsel and state agencies to maintain the highest standards of security and privacy.

This role requires a proactive, security-conscious leader who is committed to advancing educational technology while ensuring compliance with legal and ethical standards in student data protection.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

• Bachelor’s Degree and a minimum of 5 years of relevant job-related experience working in a school setting.
• Extensive experience implementing and managing administrative and educational systems. Experience with the integration of software systems, data analysis, database design, and website development. Administrative systems include: GSuite for Education, PowerSchool, ClassLink, Frontline Central, Destiny Library, Mosaic, ParentSquare, Diligent Community, and others.
• The Director of Technology will lead the organization’s cybersecurity strategy, ensuring the protection of digital assets, sensitive data, and IT infrastructure. The director is responsible for implementing and maintaining robust security policies, monitoring threats, and ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations, including NH State cybersecurity requirements for educational institutions. The director will oversee risk assessments, incident response plans, and employee cybersecurity training while collaborating with leadership to align security initiatives with business objectives.
• Broad relevant technical knowledge with regard to networking and infrastructure including switches, routers, firewalls, wireless controllers, security and Internet filtering, VOIP, security cameras, and similar systems.
• Experience with Active Directory, Microsoft Windows Servers, group policies, account management, computer management, and printer management. Knowledge and proficiency with Windows and Chrome OS operating systems.
• Ability to manage a diverse technology team including the ability to delegate work, set clear expectations, and manage workflow.
• Ability to effectively train technology users in software/hardware selection and use.
• Strong leadership, team-building, interpersonal communication, and relational skills, as well as organizational and project management skills; problem-solving skills; sound judgment; initiative; flexibility; and detail orientation.
