About the Role:
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced tutor to provide academic support to a student in high school in a community location. This position requires a strong understanding of various subjects, effective communication skills, and a passion for helping students succeed.
Responsibilities:
- Tutoring Sessions: Conduct online tutoring sessions for 2-3 hours per day.
- Platform Proficiency: Utilize online learning platforms that delivers instruction and tracks the student progress. Mentor will help student navigate the chosen platform and monitor understanding and work completion; may need to help reteach key concepts and ideas delievered in onoline lesson.
- Behavioral Interventions: Employ positive behavior management techniques to create a conducive learning environment.
- Trauma-Informed Approach: Understand and apply trauma-informed practices to support students' emotional well-being.
- Communication: Maintain open and regular communication with parents/guardians, and SAU 6 Special Education Director(s) regarding student progress and challenges.
Qualifications:
- Strong academic background in core subjects (Math, Science, English, History)
- Experience tutoring students in K-12
- Proficiency in online learning platforms (e.g., Zoom, Google Classroom, Odessyware, VLACs)
- Knowledge of behavioral intervention strategies
- Understanding of trauma-informed care principles
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Patience, empathy, and a positive attitude
