What are the responsibilities and job description for the Power Plant Technician position at Sauder Family Companies?
Sauder Woodworking Co. is looking for a Power Plant (CoGen) Technician to join our talented team in our on site power plant facility. The technician maintains the safe and efficient operation of the Power Plant facility. The role will manage sawdust levels and grades to ensure continuous production capabilities and Power Plant operations, while maximizing profitability of excess material.
The schedule for this position is 12-hour rotating shifts (includes weekends and holidays) after training.
While we would love to hire an experienced technician, we are open to entry-level applicants with relevant experience and skills. We will pay for the training needed to excel in the role.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Monitor, transfer and produce required sawdust levels and grades
Start, stop, monitor and control two 620 psi/750 degree boilers safely and effectively
Start, stop, monitor and control two 3.7 megawatt turbine generators
Monitor computer system and make hourly rounds to ensure safe and accurate operations of the entire co-generation facility
Monitor, control and record emission control system to ensure compliance with environmental regulations
Perform water chemistry test to ensure the purity of boiler feed-water, condensate and steam
Perform minor maintenance
Assist in periodic boiler cleanings
Synchronize power generated with the local utility company
QUALIFICATIONS
High school education or better with good math skills and mechanical abilities
Upon completion of 2,000 hours of on the job training, the successful candidate will be expected to test with the State of Ohio for a minimum of a class III Stationary Engineers License.
Prior experience helpful, but not required
Excellent attendance record
Good communication and interpersonal skills
Willingness to learn technical skills of Stationary Steam Engineer
Self-motivated and positive attitude
Mechanical and/or electrical aptitude a plus
PAY SUMMARY
Expected offer range: $22.50/hour - $30.25/hour. The actual pay will be based on factors such as relevant experience, skills, and whether the candidate has a State of Ohio Class III Stationary Engineers License. We also offer two performance-based increases in the first year.
