Job Description
The Egg Barn Manager is responsible for the successful operation of our egg production facility. This role requires a combination of strong leadership, animal husbandry expertise, and operational management skills to ensure optimal bird health, efficient egg production, and a safe and productive work environment.
Key Responsibilities

Oversee Daily Operations:
- Monitor and direct all aspects of daily farm operations, including feeding, watering, and environmental control.
- Ensure efficient egg collection, grading, and storage processes while maintaining the highest quality standards.
- Supervise the operation and maintenance of all farm equipment, including feeders, waterers, and ventilation systems.

Animal Care & Welfare:
- Prioritize the health and well-being of our flock by implementing and monitoring preventative health programs.
- Observe bird behavior and promptly address any health concerns, coordinating with veterinarians as needed.
- Maintain strict biosecurity measures to minimize disease risks.
- Ensure mortality is disposed of properly.
- Support and service other local producers.

Team Leadership & Management:
- Recruit, train, and supervise a high-performing team of barn workers.
- Develop and implement effective work schedules and assign tasks to maximize efficiency.
- Conduct annual performance reviews, provide constructive feedback, and address any performance issues.

Compliance & Safety:
- Ensure strict adherence to all relevant local, state, and federal regulations pertaining to poultry farming and egg production.
- Maintain a safe and healthy work environment for all employees and animals, implementing and enforcing all safety protocols.
- Accurately maintain all required records, including production data, inventory, and health reports.

Resource Management:
- Manage the inventory of feed, supplies, and equipment to ensure optimal resource utilization and cost-effectiveness.
- Coordinate with suppliers to ensure timely delivery of all necessary materials.
- Monitor and control operational costs to maximize profitability.

Quality Control:
- Develop and implement standard operating procedures for Outdoor egg production.
- Be the technical advisor for new facility developments in the region and ensure consistent quality standards across multiple locations.
- Provide guidance and support to contract farmers transitioning to Outdoor production.
- Conduct regular audits and inspections of facilities.
- Train the farmer and staff on quality control procedures and Outdoor standards.
- Document and report on quality metrics and compliance.
- Collaborate with company leadership on expansion strategies and improvements.

Facility Maintenance:
- Ensure cleanliness and proper maintenance of the barn and surrounding areas.
- Schedule and oversee routine repairs and maintenance of all equipment and facilities.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in agriculture, Animal Science, or a related field preferred.
- Minimum 3-5 years of experience in poultry farming or livestock management.
- Proven leadership and supervisory skills with a strong ability to motivate and guide a team.
- In-depth knowledge of animal health, biosecurity practices, and egg production processes.
- Familiarity with farm equipment and technology.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Attain certification - certified poultry technician (CPT) attain
- Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays, as needed.
- Available 24/7 for emergency alarms.
Work Environment:
- Primarily an indoor role with significant time spent within barn facilities.
- Physically demanding position requiring frequent lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods.
- Exposure to dust, odors, and varying temperatures.
